What is the function of art museums?
Just spent a few hours in the MoMA and now I’m not sure what to do with myself.
What is the function of art museums?
To kill time?
To relieve stress?
To tire us out?
To provide us with things to gawk at? Things to document?
To spark some new idea?
To make us feel great or not that great?
To play with our sense of possibility? (I could’ve done that, I’ve been-there-done-that)
To show us things out of context? Or created for viewing within this strange white box/blob?
Do I feel different?
Will I bring it up in conversation today, or tomorrow, or in five years?
I think I am going to go buy some peaches.
